I’ve already explained the four core principles of network marketing, but what about the essential skills? The great thing about starting your business is that you’ll already possess many of the required skills, you just need to brush up on how to best use them and put them into practice!

One of my top tips for network marketing success is spending time developing your skills. From talking to new people to being confident and staying consistent with your goals, you’ll need to be an all-rounder if you want to flourish in many types of network marketing.

Here are six skills that you need to work on.

Communication

Online network marketing is based around great communication. Navigating the cold market requires you to build rapport with new people, get to know them and communicate the benefits of your product or service as well as the advantages of joining your team. 

There are many types of network marketing but working on your online communication is essential. Sometimes when you aren’t always meeting people face to face it can be harder to get your point across or make a good first impression but practice makes perfect! 

Confidence

If you don’t follow the four beliefs of marketing including belief in yourself, then you aren’t going to be confident in what you’re doing. Confidence is one of the most important skills. Being confident will ensure that you come across as professional and know exactly what you are talking about. 

People can be skeptical about network marketing but coming across as confident can put them at ease and make it easier growing your team. Working on self development is a great way of improving your confidence so you’re at the top of your game!

Leadership

Much of your network marketing success will be down to your leadership skills. As the head of your team you need to show amazing leadership skills that will guide your sponsors, that way you can continue to grow your team and earn more based on multiple levels.

You won’t find network marketing success from hiding away. Stand up and become a leader – you’ll be surprised just how much potential you have. The more you commit yourself to network marketing the faster your understanding will grow and you’ll be in the perfect position to become a leader. 

Accountability

If you want to know how to succeed in network marketing then you have to take accountability for your actions. Understanding that the effort you put in will determine your accomplishments is crucial for improving your business including how quickly you grow your team and the amount you earn.

Setting goals is a great way to practice this skill. For example, if you aim to post 1 Instagram photo a day to build your following and reach out to 5 people a day, you can reflect at the end of the week and see what you’ve done well and what can be improved on. 

Organisation

You have to be organised in all types of network marketing or you aren’t going to be in the right mindset or feel well equipped to do your job well. Organisation means different things to different people so you may need to find a method that works best for you, not only for your daily routine but managing your team.

By creating a schedule that works for you you’ll make much better use of your time. Good time management, working under pressure and multitasking are all essential skills in network marketing. Do not give up. It may take a few weeks or even months for you to find your groove but once you have there’s no stopping you!

Entrepreneurial spirit

Do you have a natural entrepreneurial spirit? For many people, starting online network marketing is a chance to ditch the stressful 9 to 5 and begin a new journey. It’s about having the right approach and actively seeking out change rather than letting opportunities pass you by. Be ambitious and take action.
