Using Social Media Recruiting For Your Home Business
While I was on a business building trip to Ireland recently I recorded this video down by the lake next to the Galway Bay Hotel in Athlone. I share some key tips if your are using Social Media Recruiting in your home business.
Some Social Media Recruiting Do’s & Don’ts
With 1.4 Billion people on FaceBook alone and the profiling FaceBook does there is an endless number of targeted people you can share any type of home business with whether you are in Travel like me, or health and wellness or cosmetics etc.
The only problem is there is a right way to use social media recruiting methods and there is a wrong way. I constantly see amateurs and newbies literally spam their company links onto their walls and other peoples walls, pages and groups and wonder why they are losing friends hand over fist. Ladies and gentlemen this is not the way! Nobody likes SPAM, I am sure you don’t so don’t do it.
Think of Social Media as like a virtual BBQ. There is a clue in the word “Social”, so be social. Make friends, get to know them, build rapport, build likeability, build trust & then the opportunity to share what you do will come up. Give value to people and constantly look at your profile and pages and ask whether you would be attracted to you. If the answer is yes then others will be too. When you just go posting your home business network marketing company link on FaceBook or any other Social Network its like you turning up to the BBQ with a sandwich board saying “join my business opportunity”. Major turn off!
Social Media Recruiting – Tip 1
Your Profile, About Me & Pictures
When you connect with new people on FaceBook inevitably people will go checkout your pictures, about me page and your profile. Make sure it is attractive and interesting.
Your profile picture should be a smiling picture of you, preferably in a nice location, maybe on holiday or at an event. Your cover picture should also grab the right attention. See below my Personal FaceBook profile & my Success With Shush Arya FaceBook Page to get an idea.
My Personal FaceBook Profile
Write your back story in your about me section so people will know who you are and what your mission is.
Finally add some pictures of travel, family, events, special occasions. Your pictures help people build a visual profile of your life and lifestyle.
Social Media Recruiting – Tip 2
Finding Your Target Market & Reaching Out To People
Knowing your target market is essential for social media recruiting strategy. Who are the kind of people you want to attract into your home business? Do you want professionals, people with similar interests, people who live locally etc. Once you know who your target market is then join groups where they are likely to hangout.
The easiest way to find people is checkout these groups and see who has posted positive comments and go and view their profiles and pictures. If they are the right type of person then drop them a message paying them a compliment on their positive post and start a conversation. Build up rapport to the point where they ask you “so what do you do?”.
Friends, Family & People You Know
I have personally used Social Media Recruiting as my mine recruiting method for the past year and have recruited several people I know personally. Some I did not speak for many years. Just reach out to people and engage a conversation. One of the greatest things about FaceBook is you can see who is online. My opener often just “Are you there?” Then say something like, “I would love to share with you what I’m doing if you’re open to it.” That single line has worked countless times in getting people to have a look at my business opportunity.
One of the key social media recruiting tips is about staying consistent. You are not just using social media for personal reasons but as a self branding and marketing tool alsp. I personally prefer FaceBook over all the other sites purely because of the number of active people on it daily. However the same principles mentioned in this post can be applied to Instagram, LinkedIn & Twitter with a few minor tweaks.
IF you got some value, please feel free to share or send to your teammates. Be sure to let me know which tip was your favourite in the comments below!
